China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. has confirmed that main-line welding on the Ntorya natural gas pipeline was successfully completed on 21 July 2026, providing direct contractor evidence that construction continued beyond Aminex’s 14 July project update.
A newly identified report published by China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. Ltd. on 27 July provides one of the clearest construction updates yet on the Ntorya to Madimba natural gas pipeline.
The contractor states:
“On July 21, the main line welding work of the Ntorya natural gas pipeline project, which was built by Pipeline Company One, was successfully completed.”
The significance is not simply that another construction milestone has been reached. The date itself matters.
Main-line welding was completed seven days after Aminex’s 14 July announcement concerning the operator dispute, demonstrating that work on the pipeline infrastructure continued during that period.
According to the contractor, the Ntorya pipeline has a total project length of 33.766 kilometres and a designed daily gas transmission capacity of 3.964 million cubic metres.
That capacity equates to approximately 140 million standard cubic feet per day, consistent with the previously stated design capacity of the Ntorya to Madimba pipeline.
The Chinese contractor reports that:
32.266 kilometres of main-line welding had been completed
the work was achieved in only 88 effective construction days
the welding pass rate reached 99.17%
Construction originally began on 10 February 2026, but progress was affected by Tanzania's rainy season. The contractor says the effective construction period was compressed to 74 days before additional work allowed the main-line welding programme to be completed.
The project team reportedly used the rainy period to prepare pipe sections and complete prefabrication work so that construction could accelerate once conditions improved.
Main-line welding is a major stage in pipeline construction.
Individual steel pipe sections must be welded together along the route to form the continuous pipeline that will ultimately carry gas from Ntorya towards the Madimba gas processing facilities.
Once the main welding operation is complete, attention moves increasingly towards completing and preparing the pipeline for operation.
The contractor itself identifies the next stages as:
connection and tie-in work
lowering the pipeline into the trench
backfilling
pressure testing
These are the processes required before the completed pipeline can move towards final testing and commissioning.
Importantly, these are not preliminary activities. Main-line welding represents a substantial part of the physical construction process.
The source of this information makes the update particularly useful.
Rather than relying on estimates, satellite interpretation or general project statements, the confirmation comes from China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. itself, the organisation carrying out the pipeline construction.
The report was published on 27 July 2026, just six days after the welding milestone was achieved.
It therefore provides contemporaneous contractor-level confirmation of the state of construction.
For Aminex investors, the chronology is particularly noteworthy.
Aminex released its operator dispute announcement on 14 July.
The pipeline contractor confirms that main-line welding was then completed on 21 July.
This provides clear evidence that construction of the Ntorya gas infrastructure continued beyond the date of that announcement.
It is important to distinguish the TPDC pipeline project from the upstream work programme operated by ARA Petroleum Tanzania. Nevertheless, the pipeline is a fundamental part of the infrastructure required to bring Ntorya gas into Tanzania's existing gas network.
Its continued progress is therefore directly relevant to the route towards first production.
The pipeline milestone also takes on added significance following the Tanzanian government meeting on 26 August.
At that meeting, ARA Petroleum Chief Executive Dr Salman Al Shidi pledged that the company would “continue to carry out its responsibilities with speed” and complete the necessary activities to achieve the target of commencing Ntorya gas production by December 2026.
That commitment provides a positive context for the contractor’s July update. Main-line welding had already been completed by 21 July, and ARA has now publicly committed to having Ntorya gas flowing before the end of the year.
Taken together, the two developments provide tangible evidence of both physical progress on the infrastructure and a renewed commitment to bringing Ntorya into production in 2026.
The Ntorya to Madimba pipeline is the physical connection that will allow gas from the Ntorya field to enter Tanzania's established processing and transmission system.
Completion of main-line welding on 21 July means one of the largest physical elements of that infrastructure had already reached an advanced stage.
The contractor's own report confirms:

The remaining work described by the contractor is now concentrated around connecting, lowering, backfilling and pressure testing the completed pipeline.
For investors following the physical development of Ntorya, this is a substantial and independently documented milestone.
